Rockfest, as a seperate entity

My reflection of this year’s Rockfest comes complete with extreme heat; a toe I stubbed just nights before the event which created a purple pea shaped knot on my left 4th toe; and a change in the layout from last year. I’m going to review the festival in and of itself, as a separate entity, not as each band, and they did this and that. I try not to miss Rockfest. If I leave before the ending band, so be it. I figure, I’m part of the history that is being made at the moment, which was filling a park with 60,000 people. That is compared with 50,000 last year.

I arrived, with my son who just graduated high school on Thursday night and his girlfriend who is sixteen, around 8:30. My parking space was supreme, compared with last year’s at the same time. (Last year I parked over 3 miles away. Parking was closed off due to a jogging run. ) After finally being let in (why did we have to stand for twenty minutes, after being let in at the ticket taking aisles, before the gates opened? ) My son promptly took his girl friend over to the second stage. I went with my friends to the main stage, and we selected a shade tree.

Burgers of the Mid west

Do you like to eat out at different places, but are not sure where to go? There are hundreds of steak houses in Kansas City, but in today’s economy, sometimes, steakhouses are not the best choice. Plus, you might not be hungry for a steak.
Let’s scale it down a bit, and discuss hamburgers, well, in my case, cheeseburgers plain.

Kansas City has its share of McDonald’s, Wendy’s (Open after midnight, perfect for those after concert hungries), and Sonics’, so let’s step outside the box. Let’s explore the cheeseburgers I’ve tasted in Kansas City. Needless to say, Kansas City does not offer Whataburger. That’s a Texas delicacy. But regardless, we have our own trade-marked places.

Resin and Polymer Clay Tips

I did not take a picture of this, I will, and post it tomorrow.

It took me three tries of resin with hardner, before i finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I live in a humid area, and now it's warm enough to use resin. But, why in the world did my resin coating on the polymer clay, feel sticky? It's because it was humid air, where it dried. Actually, the resin never did dry, so I threw away what I had sealed with it. The first try was a sticky gooey mess. The second try was a tacky glob.It was tiny food, and I can always make more.

So,I read up a bit on resin. If you blast a peice of polymer clay with a blow drier, before you coat it with the first pour of resin, it does the clay peice wonders in humid atmosphere. Some resin takes heat to cure it. So,I blasted my two clay peices with a blow drier, and carefully mixed the resin. Only, I used a very thin coating to the back of the clay. It did very well. I thought the mixture yesterday was too sticky.

Today, when I mixed it, I added a tiny bit more hardner. It immediately gelled. Taht is exactly what I wanted. I was able to coat the top, very well, thick, and smooth, and the sides, and also had enough to make soem fun things in the molds. The mold will have to dry longer. I reinforced the eye pins as well. I did make a mistake, and wash out the measuring cups in the kitchen sink. After several coatings of commet later, and Clorox Clean up,with a scouring pad, it came up. My paint brush is a bit sticky, and I'll only use it for resin from here on out.

When I made my tiny fruit today, which I might not coat in resin, cause I like the matte finish, I used an extra Omni-grid as the acryllic roller.I knew the exact measurement, and the grid works for sizing tiny leaves and such.

Clover Ball Knot Template

Possibly, this is a Turk's head knot. It's the knot made from the Clover Ball Knot template. If you have a chance to find a Clover Ball Knot Template, and like knots, this is cool.

The thing I didn't do, was buy all of them, which I should've done.

I like my knots. For some reason,I could sit for hours with a peice of cord, or rattail, and tie knots. The Clover Ball Knot Template creates rings, and also, with a touch of glue, can create beads! Aahhh, my weakness. Imagine, a macrame neclace, long, micro macramed, with ball knot beads.

Earring countdown-7 made

I worked on the yard today, seedlings are gone, for now, so my dogs won’t be trying to bring them inside. I welcome all nature, but the seedlings gots to go.

So, as earrings coutdown go,I got one whole pair done today. They are chainmaile. Chain mail is intriquate, but the results are amazing. The jumprings I use come in the chain mail kit…why? Cause it’s one of the better quality jump rings not bought form an actual bead shop, such as Firemountain Gems. The number is 7. I worked on a necklace today, too. They took me 3 hours to make. I’m up to 7, but didn’t have time, today to take pictures. I know I said 100 is my goal this week, and that’s a huge goal. But I’d rather 30 of good quality, than 100 of crap. I didn’t phtograph the chain mail earrings, cause I just finished them.

I am planning on going to Sonia Choquette’s Trust Your Vibes certification training in October, which is why I’m beating out earrings, hoping people see my plight, (pleading here, lol) and help me out. I’m about to earn my doctorate in Metaphysics, and Sonia’s certification training would take it one more step. I can’t participate in Sonia’s certification course without extra income, which is my earrings and jewelry. This is why the contests, the selling on Etsy and Artfire (my personal favorite). I’m not doing that much, yet in Metaphyscis, but I need to start doing readings, so I can enter it into the Metaphysics log book….anyone want to contribute? I’m thinking, with each pair of earrings purchased, one simple tarot card reading. Just for readers on here. Also, I’ve not come up with a name for Artfire, but it’s going to be something like, Rhonlynn’s Knot Wired. (I tend to like knots and wires, lol.) Be.one is too far out,and Im probablyy going to take down the etsy shop, cause I like Artfire.com better.

The Metaphysics doctorate program is 20 weeks, and I’m almost ready to write a dissertation, which I will publish as a blog post. Having seen Sonia on Saturday, the dissertation words are coming to me, pretty quick. I realize, today, I forgot to take the time to dance, but I did take the time to breath the way she suggested.

Trust Your Vibes

I just returned from an all day conference with Sonia Choquette, author of "Ask Your Vibes", and "Love Yourself, Live Your Spirit."

Her conference is based on 4 types of spirits: earth, fire, water, air.

Earth types are grounded, quiet, and sometimes a bit timid, but are down to earth. They like to be helpful, and often walk slower than the others, never in a hurry. Earth people analyze things.

Water types cry alot. A whole lot, and they also are the one's who pry into your life, and want to know everything that is going on. Water people are always worried.

Air types have every gadget imaginable, and when they travel, they are the type who have the wee little pair of scissors if you need them.If you need it, they have one packed. They are often full of hot air, and go from one project to another, sometimes not finishing the first one. Air people want to provide advice.

Fire types kick your butt to get it in gear. They actually do hold their butt tighter, and are sometimes quite hyper. They are the one's who get things going, and keepthings alive.

We also learned aobut the parts of the heart, in metaphysical terms:
The top right is the inner child, the bottom right is the inner adult.
The upper left is the wise part, the bottom left is the courage part.

The minute you stop and breath, you create a vibration. You become back to earth, and you become present. You should always use the front part of your brain to think, the back part of your brain is used for past memories. Think with your third eye.

The best way to get you back to the present is to stop, and let out a big loud sigh. Frequently. Also, stop to dance, music can bring you to the present quickly.

If you are cautious, figure out what you are afraid of. Ask your self, "Why am I afraid?" Then repeat, "Why?" Then again and again.

We doubled up,and did a short meditation, and voiced our fears, while the other one listened, with out saying a thing. That was very interesting, and challenging.

Sonia spoke for almost 6 hours, and I'm so glad I went. I feel like I got alot out of it.

Getting Knotty

Tah Dah! For some reason, something just clicked, and I suddenly tyed 2 very good monkey fists. I am proud of them. Especially on the 4 mm cord.

I also tighed a monkey braid. It is a one strand braid. The monkey fist in the picture has a rubber ball inside the knot.

Here is a picture of the 4 mm cord knot, with the other two knots.

Also,I took a picture of my very first decent monkey fist, it does not have a ball inside it, the one above does. It is a lot easier with thicker cord. I've not had a successful micro monkey fist as of yet.

Monkey Fist-I resign it for the night

I'm on travel, in a hotel in North Eastern Missouri, 100 miles from home. Usually I bring either my laptop with World of warcract loaded in it, or my netbook, with internet access, and my knotting threads. Plus, my Kindle. And my tarot cards. I spend the time making jewelry, or reading, or both. I usually practice my knots.

Finally figured out Monkey braid, heck that one is easy. I was having trouble with the Monkey Fist knot at home, earlier today. I kept having a loose loop. So,I took my rope with me, and made a keychain with the monkey chain, that is pretty cool, only on strand, braided. I tried, repeatedly, over 40 times to get the monkey fist knot right. It's maddening. It's a monkey I'd like to strangle. The only time I've not messed with it, was when I was driving. The minute I checked into the hotel, out came the rope.

Out came the rope, I did the knot, nearly perfect, with a loose loop. Again and again. I love that knot, let's get this straight: It makes one awesome chain, but if done another way, it can be so deadly that it can kill. It's very decorative, but very lethal. It makes an awesome keychain. Nothing is more cooler than that. Nothing is worse than having a loose loop, after trying time and time again to get that loop right, even making a loose monkey fist, and working each loop, and it's still loose.

haha, I believe in channeling spirits, but I have no idea who created those little monstrous monkey. I'm on my netbook, but I should take a picture of it, with the loose loop, and maybe someone can help.I'm doing it exactly as the www.instructable.com cideo shows. This is the most odd thing ever. Usually I can tie them quickly. WOW. Maybe I should've taken my other laptop. I';ve spent the entire night, working on Monkey fist knots that don't quite make it. grrrrrr....or as a monkey might say, "Want a banana?"

Rainbows-in defense of

I used to collect anything rainbow, and I had a huge rainbow poster on my ceiling. I had my mom and dad paint my walls royal blue to go with that poster. I was 15, and I'd do it today, and I am 47.

I had a rainbow t-shirt, with the sleeves the rainbow part, and the shirt area, the top of the rainbow, you've seen them. I had rainbow earrings, rainbow thread, rainbow sheets, even brown rainbow sheets. I had rainbow stickers on my car and on my notebook. I cross stitched rainbows, I needle pointed rainbows. Everything I had was rainbows.

I am macremaing a rainbow variegated hemp bracelet t.It is so pretty, how the colors fade in and out, in the rainbow shades, and how the other colors show through the knots. It's so pretty, it doesn't need beads. But the right bead would be awesome on this rainbow...colored...thread....... .....

That I saw on my beloved ETSY, made into several hemp bracelets, for... GAYS. Labeled as such. Don't get my wrong, I have a few gay friends. I love men, I'm not gay, and the gay story line in Gray's Anatomy is almost sickening, but Liz on Nip-Tuck is cool. I love rainbows. WTF....If I wear this bracelet, people will believe I'm G A Y. To me, that's SICK, cause I'm not, and never will be. But the thread is so pretty. The thread makes me think of the Grateful dead. Not a gay person. So, don't take away my rainbows, cause you are gay. And don't think I am gay, cause I wear something green, yellow, blue, purple, red, whatever.

I'm finishing this bracelet...mabye I should make a few and market them, "In defense of the rainbow."
